Changgyeonggung Mulbityeonhwa, the Perfect Autumn Night Date Course
Autumn is deepening. Among Seoul’s famous fall foliage spots, Changgyeonggung Palace is now reaching another peak with “Mulbityeonhwa,” where the palace, autumn leaves, and media art blend seamlessly. With the nighttime opening program in operation, it offers unforgettable romance for couples, families, and friends alike.
Maybe it’s the influence of K-culture—there were so many foreign visitors, much more than before, and the place was full of tourists.

I visited during the day to see Changgyeonggung’s autumn foliage, so I’ll share the night program information instead.
🍁 Even Past Peak Foliage, the Autumn Scenery Is Still Beautiful
If you’re worried that the leaves might be gone by now, don’t worry.
Even after the bright red peaks fade, the soft, muted autumn colors of Changgyeonggung become even more atmospheric.

This is the best time to enjoy the palace quietly: fewer crowds and a more serene, traditional mood.
At Chundangji Pond, the reflection of autumn leaves creates a watercolor-like scene, giving the entire palace a calm and elegant feel.
🌙 The Most Romantic Place in Seoul During Fall
And that is Changgyeonggung Mulbityeonhwa Night Opening.
Even though peak foliage has passed, the autumn colors within the palace are still beautiful and charming.
The lights and media art spreading across the waters of Chundangji make Changgyeonggung one of the top fall foliage spots in Seoul.

📍 What is Changgyeonggung Mulbityeonhwa?
Mulbityeonhwa is a nighttime media art program that expresses the history and sentiment of the palace through light.
It runs from March 7 to December 31, 2025—a massive 10-month-long night event.
The theme comes from six meanings of the character “화 (花, 華, 話, 畵, 和, 化)”,
and the exhibition is divided into eight sections.
You can take a nighttime walk around Chundangji Pond, where the quiet palace atmosphere meets LED lights and music.
The Eight Scenic Sections
1. Waterway of Conversation – A path of light that begins a dialogue with the palace.
2. Mulbityeonhwa – Floral lights blooming on the water, reflecting the joys and sorrows of the palace.
3. Light of White Hair – Illuminations inspired by the ancient white pine tree, recalling the passage of time.
4. Light of Harmony – Lights reflecting on the Great Greenhouse, symbolizing the harmony between history, modernity, and restoration.
5. Breath of Water – Gentle lights and sounds drifting over the small Chundangji Pond.
6. Light of Peace – A light-filled path that connects past and future.
7. Crimson Bloom of Water – A message of revival and harmony near the exit route.
8. Eternal Palace – A final moment of reflection before returning to reality.
Each zone combines lighting, sound, and nature to awaken your senses and emotions.
